The remodeling and extension of a 1912 detached house for a family in Kent
The proposal aims to quieten (?) the current assemblage of additions to the house into a collection of concordant elements. The simplification of the mass, extension of the original building and new outhouse are unified by a brick garden wall, expressed through a series of inhabited bays; an articulated window, a bench, a loggia. A take on the notion of the Edwardian folly in a wall
Through the use of traditional and contemporary material the project finds an approach to remodeling of the house which stays true to the buildings origins whilst not becoming an architectural facsimile.
