Ian Chalk Architects is a flat structured organisation. We believe that design is a collaborative process and architectural discourse within the studio should be encouraged. We joined forces to collectively apply skills to a greater variety of projects in an open and collaborative way.
Ian Chalk, ARB, RIBA
Ian trained in Nottingham Trent and later at the University of Westminster. Prior to setting up ICA he was Associate Director at Orms Architects and led a number of large scale projects, including The Standard Hotel at Camden Town Hall Annexe. He tutors at the Royal College of Art and sits on Camden's Design Review Panel.
Edward Whiteley, ARB
Edward trained at the University of Sheffield and subsequently worked for several years as a Project Architect at Orms Architects. During this time he led the St Giles Circus project, a large-scale masterplan neat Tottenham Court Road. Edward is currently working on several projects including the refurbishment of the Troxy Theatre and a new timber frame extension of a listed building in Soho.
Giles Wheeldon, ARB
Giles trained at the University of Liverpool and later at the The Cass, London Metropolitan University, and worked for a number of years at Orms Architects. During his time at ICA, Giles has lead a number fo projects to completion, including Raine House Community Centre and Chart Street Studios. He has tutored at the University of Liverpool since 2019, with Studio Pen and Inc. Giles is currently working on the refurbishment and extension of Cambridge Arts Theatre.
Yusti Gomez Herrera, ARB
Yusti initially trained in France at the Ecole Paris-Malaquais and the later in Japan at Kyoto Seika University. Prior to joining ICA in 2017, Yusti worked at Wilkinson Eyre. He returned to Ecole Paris-Malaquais to complete his qualifications. He has recently completed Hillside Cottage; the extension of a miners cottage on the North Cornwall coast. Yusti is currently working on the proposal for a new life sciences building in North London.
Cherry Poon, ARB
Cherry joined ICA in 2020 having graduated from the University of Sheffield. She previously worked at Aedas, and Millier Architects. During her time at ICA she has worked on a number of projects including Chart Street Studios and the Denmark Street fit-out. Cherry is currently working on the extension of a private house on the Suffolk coast.
